View from the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse to FantasyLand. Nothing particularly deep speaking to the human condition, I just liked the way the lights were shining over the trees. Personally, what I'd really like to do is to get in to Space Mountain to take some pictures with the lights on (or off). But, alas, I don't have the connections to get in there. We couldn't even ride it since it's closed for renovations (yea, yea, gotta close it to make it better, but still.)

Technically this was a fairly challenging picture. Disney being a public place, and me not having a tripod, it was difficult to get a shot without blur or passerby. I ended up leaning up against a lamp post and patiently waiting until no one was walking by. At almost a full second exposure, it took a few tries until I got something sharp, but was pretty surprised with the quality of the end result.
Timing-wise, I would have rather gotten this picture a few hours earlier, when the sky was still blue, but the schedule of the trip revolved around recreation instead of photographs.

I'm not entirely thrilled with this shot, but it was the most interesting of the day, so there it is. It turns out that sometimes its more fun to not worry about taking pictures, as I spent most of the trip to Disney taking snapshots of us instead of anything particularly "artistic." Even then, I still got flak for holding up everyone else while I took pictures.
I don't know exactly why I find this photograph disappointing, but it just misses me mark. I don't like the blue of the wall behind the signage, and there's nothing to draw your eye around the frame so it's very static.

This is an old bus that's been turned into a highly decorated snack stand in Disney's Animal Kingdom. This was one of the pictures that really made me wish for a better camera than I was carrying. The color rendition surpassed simply 'boring' and moved into the 'horrendous' range of emotions. It wasn't so much that there was a color shift, but simply that the dynamic range of the camera was so small that the whole picture was a washed-out blah. (Dynamic range is the difference between the dimmest black and the brightest white a camera can capture in any given image.) I massaged what I had in photoshop, and was able to breath a little bit of life into it. (Mind you, me massaging a photo a lot in photoshop generally means piddling around for 20 minutes with levels and saturation. No layers were harmed in the making of this picture.)
If I had been shooting the Rebel, I probably would have gotten a similarly framed but wider angle shot, which would have exaggerated the nose of the bus more, and given a better sense of interaction and contact. As it stands, I think there's too much perceived distance between the viewer and the bus. It's a picture of a bus, rather than a bus that's a picture.

This little dude was hanging out on a curb when we got to our hotel in Disney. There were lizards and frogs all over the place, to the point of peril... for them. They were incredibly tolerant of people, which is how I was able to get close enough to take this picture, even though I was using a REALLY annoying camera. They were so unafraid that, at times, you literally had to watch your step or risk creating a serious mess on the pavement and your shoe.

The sad thing about this is that he is such a freak about luggage that this was entirely a posed shot. I piled all the luggage up and waited 30 seconds for him to come and investigate. I wasn't entirely sure that he was going to lie down instead of sitting, or what have you, but there was no question that that cat wasn't going to climb up onto that luggage. Freak...
